Department of Computer Generated Imagery
History
The Department of Visual Communication Arts was established on May 1, 1992 under the Faculty of Communication Arts and deanship of Assistant Professor Sompol Supakkanok. The department was accredited by the Ministry of University Affairs in that same year consisting of a clear curriculumn branced into four major categories.
The Department of Visual Communication Arts constantly improves the excellence of education with experienced faculty members in a variety of fields. The first chairperson of the department was Ajarn Sriurai Prechasilpa, who administrated from the academic year of 1994 to 1998. Following her administration was Ajarn Khajornsak Thirapanish from the academic year of 1999 to 2010. Presently the department chairperson is directed by Ajarn Darunee Sa-araddee. As the rapid growth and high demand in the digital media field continues, the faculty members of the department agreed on establishing two new departments. With strong direction and two decades of experience in art and design education, the department has created these two new programs to serve the needs of the nation. These programs include:
The Department of Visual Communication Design is chaired by Mrs. Littiporn Littipanich and the Department of Computer Generated Imagery is chaired by Mr. Suriya Rattanawongul. Both curriculums have been approved by the Office of Higher Education Committee in the academic year of 2011 and launched in the academic year of 2012. Department of Computer Generated Imagery aims to produce graduates who are keen on computer graphics, animations, visual effects, and who can work in motion picture industry in both national and international level. Graduates are aware of the importance of their works and their impact to society because they are ethically sound and socially responsible designer in the field of computer generated imagery. The graduates are expected to work locally and internationally under the National Economic and Social Development policy. |
